Trauma and orthopedics

About our service

We offer three Trauma and Orthopaedic wards:

These wards are located within Stepping Hill Hospital and provide inpatient care for patients with a wide range of conditions. 

Orthopaedic wards

Ward B3

A gold framework elective joint replacement unit also caring for patients following orthopaedic and spinal surgery.

Ward B3 located on the first floor of the main hospital.

Ward M6

Our Trauma Unit treating patients with fractures, multiple trauma injuries, infected orthopaedic wounds and caring for patients with ENT emergencies. 

Ward M6 located at the Maternity entrance lift to the 6^th floor

Ward M4

A dedicated unit for patients with fractured neck of femurs offering surgery and care from an orthogeriatric specialist team.

Fracture and Trauma Clinics

These clinics are located on the ground floor of the Emergency block in Outpatients A at Stepping Hill Hospital. They provide assessment and treatment for fractures and other trauma injuries. 

Trauma Operating Theatres

There is 1 dedicated trauma unit which is based on the maternity block. Theatre 9 is a dedicated trauma unit based in the maternity block.

Virtual Fracture Clinics

Ward M4 is run by Band 3 staff who liaise with consultants and the trauma team to arrange follow up appointments.

Based on Ward M4, Maternity entrance lift to the 4^th floor.

Trauma Coordinators

Specialist team based at the hospital and their main duties are seeing all patients booked onto the trauma and acute lists. They also see inpatients who are awaiting theatre as well as patients who are sent home from ED so they can be bought back in by the Trauma team when there is a date for their surgery.
