About our service
Stockport School Nursing Services are part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, and also part of a wider integrated children’s service with Stockport Council called ‘Stockport Family’ which is an improved way of working with children and families in Stockport. The service includes health visiting, early help and social care services.
We have a skilled mix team comprising:
- SCPHN School Nurses (Specialist Community Public Health Nurses)– who are qualified nurses with an additional specialist public health qualification, which is recordable with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Community Staff Nurses – who are qualified general nurses, children’s nurses or mental health nurses working in the community under the direction of a school nurse
- Family Help School Nurse assistants (FHSNA) – Assist in the delivery of school age public health interventions.
- School Nurse Assistants (SNA) – who are members of the skill mix team with additional training to deliver the National Child Measurement Programme.
