Consultants
Our consultants take a history and medically assess the patient. They can help with diagnosis, and advise on appropriate treatment options, including medication reviews and interventions when needed. It is not unusual to recommend that patients reduce some of their medicines and only continue the ones which are most effective for the individual.
They help patients to have a better understanding of their pain and some of the non-medication factors which can help to improve their quality of life.
Psychologists
Our Psychologists support the emotional and psychological side of living with pain. They provide therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and help people rebuild confidence, manage low mood and anxiety. By understanding the psychological impact of pain, people are better able to manage their pain, get back in touch with what is important to them in life and work towards living a full and meaningful life, despite difficulties with pain.

Our Specialist nurses offer expert assessment, education, treatment and support around pain management, medication use, and flare-up planning. They teach people living with chronic pain to become better managers of their long-term health condition.
