Our Expertise
All our physiotherapists are Chartered and state registered. We have a thorough
understanding of human movement and the conditions that can affect this. We can provide you with help, advice and treatment to reduce pain, increase movement and restore function.
We have individual treatment rooms and a gym. All patient receive an individual
assessment. Treatment may consist of an individualised treatment plan and other
therapeutic techniques. We also have a number of classes, including a back
rehabilitation class, a lower limb class, a shoulder class and a knee class for
osteoarthritis.
These classes include exercise, education and advice. These classes enable
patients to restore function and increase their confidence in participating in exercise. We can refer on to other services such as orthotics, podiatry and hydrotherapy when appropriate and advise your GP if we think onward referral to a specialist is required.
How to use the service
To access this service you need to live in the Stockport area and be registered with a Stockport GP. You can be referred by your GP, first contact practitioners and the
Orthopaedic Assessment Service. When you reach the top of our waiting list you will be sent a letter asking you to ring the main office at Kingsgate to book an
appointment.
Before Your Visit
Once you have reached the top of the waiting list you will be contacted by the
physiotherapy department either by telephone or post. There is a cut off date on the letter and if you do not contact the Department by that date you will be discharged.
Think about the problem you are attending physiotherapy for. What makes it feel worse or better and how it affects your day to day activities, work or hobbies. Please dress appropriately and bring a list of current medication.
During Your Visit
Please report to physiotherapy Reception at Kingsgate or Main Reception at the
Health Centre or GP Practice. Your physiotherapist will call you from the waiting
room. We will ask questions and make notes about your condition. We will need to
examine the joint affected and will discuss possible treatment options with you to
produce a treatment plan.
After Your Visit
You may be asked to do exercises at home before your next visit. If you have any
questions or comments about your visit or treatment please contact us.
