Expertise
All Dietitians are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
Dietitians can assess, diagnose and treat diet and nutrition problems for individuals
using the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and
disease. Dietitians translate this into practical guidance to enable people to make
appropriate lifestyle and food choices. Dietitians work alongside the other teams in the hospital and are also involved in the training and support of other healthcare professionals.

How to use the service
You may be referred whilst an inpatient at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust to talk to a Dietitian in the Inpatient Nutrition and Dietetic Service. All inpatients are screened for malnutrition risk during their stay. You may be referred as it is identified you are at risk of malnutrition. The Healthcare professional who refers you should explain this to you and ask for your consent. There are other reasons why you may be referred to the Nutrition and Dietetic service as an inpatient. Doctors and Specialist Nurses can refer into the outpatient services. The team can also offer review appointments to people who have been seen by a Dietitian whilst an inpatient. This might be due to requiring further support with diet or nutrition on discharge from hospital.
