Our Volunteers help improve the Patient Experience
Our volunteers are clearly visible in their peacock-coloured uniforms. Our volunteers give their time for free.
Our volunteers make a positive contribution to the experience of our patients and their families. Many of our volunteers have used the services of the hospital and see this as an opportunity to give back, others volunteer to gain experience of working in the hospital environment and aspire to be the next generation of doctors and nurses. Our volunteers are integral to the smooth running of the Trust. We are so proud of our volunteers and the way in which they enhance patient care.

Volunteering Strategy
We are pleased to announce the launch of our new three year Volunteer Strategy. Our key strategic priorities will support in developing up to date policy and practice for volunteer services in line with current legislation and good practice.
With excellent policies in place we will be in a position to create additional volunteer roles. It is our aim that we recruit a diverse volunteer workforce to enrich the services we offer including working closely with local colleges in providing a variety of new and innovative activities to enrich our patient experience.
To support these changes we will strengthen local line management arrangements and provide access to a variety of Mandatory and Specialist training courses. See Volunteer Strategy below:-
Volunteer Charter
This Charter identifies our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for our volunteers. The Charter has been developed jointly by volunteers and staff.
Volunteers do not have an employment contract with the Trust but we are committed to providing a high standard of support in their volunteering activity, and in return our volunteers maintain the Trust’s values and behaviours. All volunteers are asked to sign the Charter upon starting. See below:-
