Our Council of Governors is made up of 20 public and 4 staff governors that have been elected by our members. We also have 4 appointed governors who represent our partner organisations.
The Council of Governors meets quarterly to discuss matters including quality of care, finances and engagement. In broad terms, the Council of Governors is responsible for:
- Holding Non-Executive Directors, individually and collectively to account for the performance of the Board of Directors
- Representing the interests of members and the public
Other governor responsibilities include:
- Approve the appointment of the Chief Executive
- Appoint and remove the Chair and Non-Executive Directors
- Decide remuneration, allowances and other terms and conditions of the Chair and Non-Executive Directors
- Appoint and remove the Trust’s External Auditors
- Receive the Annual Report and Accounts
- Have their views taken into account in the development of the Trust Strategy
- Approve “significant transactions”, e.g., mergers, acquisitions
