About our service
As well as providing care and support for women in the early stages of pregnancy experiencing complications we also provide reassurance, care and support to women who have experienced previous complications in early pregnancy. This can include previous miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy and hydatidiform mole.
The Eary Pregnancy Unit is primarily an emergency nurse led clinic with access to specialist obstetrics and gynaecology consultants where required.
We accept self- referrals for patients who are between 6 to 16 weeks pregnant, with existing or previous complications during early pregnancy.
How to use the service
To self refer contact us via the details below.
We also accept patient referrals from GPs, Midwives and Emergency Department.
A registered nurse will triage you over the phone to assess your symptoms then book you an appointment for either a BHCG (pregnancy hormone) blood test, and/or an ultrasound scan if required.
During your initial visit a full medical history will be taken by a nurse. If required, your blood will be taken and/or ultrasound scan carried out by a sonographer. You will then see a registered nurse or midwife following your investigations who will explain the blood results and/or scan findings and discuss the follow up care required.
